EMCDDA news

This month, the EMCDDA has launched two new projects which will intensify its cooperation with the Western Balkans and the European Neighbourhood Policy area (ENP). The EU-funded projects, running until the end of 2026 and 2027 respectively, will support national and regional readiness to identify and respond to drug-related health and security threats. The projects take place within the agency’s mandate for cooperation with third (non-EU) countries (1). 31.01.2023 

This month sees the start of a new phase of collaboration between the EMCDDA and Ukraine following the signing of a Working Arrangement between the agency and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. The signatories of the agreement were EMCDDA Director Alexis Goosdeel and Ukrainian Minister of Health Viktor Liashko. Exchanging expertise, experience and methodology in drug monitoring will be at the heart of the collaboration. 30.01.2023 

Professionals, academics or experts from Latin American and Caribbean countries (LAC) (1) will have an opportunity to participate in the European Drugs Winter School (EDWS) this year, thanks to two bursaries covering the registration fee being offered through the EMCDDA’s partnership with the COPOLAD project. 18.01.2023 

This month, Sweden took over the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU with a pledge to focus on security, competitiveness, green and energy transitions, democratic values and the rule of law. Over the next six months, the country will lead work at all levels of the Council, building cooperation, agreement and solidarity between EU Member States. 13.01.2023
