The results of the 2024 European School Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs (ESPAD) are released today in an extensive new report analysing adolescent substance use behaviours across Europe. The report — expanding on the key findings published in May 2025 — portrays a generation ‘in profound transition’.

The 36th annual International Conference of the European Society for Social Drug Research (ESSD 2025) will bring together experts from across Europe to discuss these issues. This year's event is hosted by the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Addiction (Drug Policy Department of the Government Office of the Czech Republic) and the Institute for Criminology and Social Prevention, and will welcome experts specialising in addiction research, prevention and policy from across Europe.

Prague, 27 August 2025 – The government has received the 2024 Summary Report on Addiction in the Czech Republic. The report summarises current trends in the use of various addictive substances, their effects, and the market for these substances. It also provides a comparison of the situation in the Czech Republic with that in other European countries.
