Registration for the 36th ESSD Conference in Prague is now open
The ESSD conference brings together social scientists working on drug issues. This year, for the first time in its history, the ESSD conference will be held in the Czech Republic. The event is hosted by the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Addiction (Government Office of the Czech Republic) and the Institute of Criminology and Social Prevention.

Capacity of the conference is limited. Participation is only possible in person, not on-line.
About the ESSD 2025 Conference
Date: 1–3 October 2025
Venue: Lichtenstein Palace, U Sovových mlýnů 506/4, Prague 1, Czech Republic
A pre-conference workshop titled "Writing for Social Science Drug and Alcohol Journals for Early Career Researchers" will be held the day before the conference. Places are limited and interest must be indicated during the conference registration process. Please note that the workshop will take place at a different location to the conference.

ESSD Conference 2025 Practical Information
- Conference language: English
- Format: In-person only
- Programme: No parallel sessions. The conference programme will be published in late August or early September.
- Accommodation: Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation. A list of recommended hotels is provided in the attached document.
- Social events: An optional accompanying program will follow the conference sessions. Participants are expected to cover their expenses. Interest must be indicated during registration.
